School Prevention and Adult Harm Reduction Can Share One Map
Consumer Choice and Harm Reduction Network says Alberta can connect prevention resources, adult harm reduction, and enforcement without erasing any part of the evidence.
The school side is active now
AHS Teachers Vaping Toolkit lists grade-specific resources for classroom conversations, including elementary, junior-high, and high-school materials. That work can continue whether Bill 208 is moving or paused.
The adult side should not disappear
Adults who smoke are affected by access policy too. Premier Smith previously said making smoking cessation products more available, not less, was good health policy, according to CHAT News Today. A harm-reduction map should include both youth prevention and adult substitution.
One map, three layers
- Prevention resources for schools.
- Legal adult access and cessation pathways.
- Illegal supply and enforcement signals.
